Research Using Open Access Academic Resources

In the past, students had to rely on Academic Journals for the latest research and scholastic information, however advances in digital technologies (and a backlash against the rising costs levied by journal publishers) mean that there is now an alternative.

Increasingly, the latest research is now being published in Open Access Repositories instead. Hosted by respected academic institutions (eg Universities), these offer the same high standard of peer-reviewed research, but are freely available to anyone with internet access.

SHERPA is a Search Engine through which you can browse research curated by UK Institutions, or you can sift through global quality-assessed academic respositories through OpenDOAR.

Other Open Access sources which are well worth exploring include OAIster, CORE and the Directory of Open Access Journals; and to learn more about the Open Access model, click here.
